Seth Folsom studied trombone performance at the Crane School of Music in upstate New York and the Pitea College of Music in Sweden.  He has performed with various classical and jazz ensembles, including the MER New Music Ensemble, the Norrboten Big Band, and the Swedish ska band I Quit.  Since switching his focus to the banjo, he has performed across North America with several groups, including the California-based progressive old-time band The Crooked Jades.

Equally comfortable in a variety of banjo performing styles, Seth also designs and builds open-back banjos.  He has poked his nose into nearly all the cobwebbed corners of American traditional music.
